규모 면에서 한국에서 가장 크며, 고유한 건축적 특징으로도 유명합니다.

Today, I would like to show you the 3D scanning and data results of the stone lanterns in front of the Gakwangjeon Hall, the iconic cultural property of Gurye Hwaeomsa Temple.

This stone lantern is a heritage of the Unified Silla Period, and it is a monument that attracts particular attention among stone cultural properties.

구례 화엄사 각황전 앞 석등은 통일신라시대의 대표적인 석조 예술품으로 평가받고 있습니다.

신라시대의 기본형인 8각을 따르고 있으며 장구 모양의 특이한 간석 형태는

통일신라시대 후기에 유행했던 것으로, 이 석등은 그중에서도 가장 전형적인 형태를 보이고 있습니다.

8각의 하대석 각 면에 안상이 있으며 그 위에 8엽 복련을 새기고 그 위에는 운문석과 8각 받침을 두었습니다

​

장구 모양의 간석은 중앙에 편구형, 중심에 횡대 두 줄을 둘렸고, 4가지의 화형을 첨가하였고,

그 위에는 얇은 앙련석이 놓였으며 단판 8엽의 연화가 거의 수평으로 조각되어 있습니다.

상면에는 1단의 받침을 마련하여 화사석(점등하는 부분)을 올렸으며,

4면에 불빛이 퍼져 나오도록 4개의 창을 뚫어 놓았습니다.

개석은 큼직하고 직립한 귀꽃이 우각마다 달린 장대한 8각형으로 되어 있으며,

꼭대기에는 8각 제형·8각 주형·8각 앙련·운문복발 등이 층층이 놓이고

그 위에 다시 개석과 같은 형식의 작은 보개가 또 하나 놓여 있습니다.

높직한 보륜 위에는 보주가 얹혀 있습니다.

이 석등은 통일신라 헌안왕 4년(860)에서 경문왕 13년(873) 사이에 세워진 것으로 추정됩니다.간주 이하가 상층부에 비하여 빈약한 감을 주지만, 활짝 핀 연꽃조각의 소박미와 화사석·개석 등에서

보여주는 웅건한 조각미를 간직한 통일신라시대의 대표적 작품입니다.
