Today, we will talk about the Daegu Maria Statue scan data case.
One of the important elements in drama production is to provide viewers with a sense of immersion!
In particular, props and backgrounds that appear in the work require realism and detail.
In this project, we 3D scanned the Maria Statue located in Daegu and used it in the drama.
Using 3D scanning technology, the delicate details, texture,

 and unique atmosphere of the Maria Statue were digitally recreated, 

and the production team was able to utilize this data in key scenes of the drama.

일단 마리아 동상에 대해 알아보고 갈까요?

First, let's learn about the statue of Mary.

성모 마리아 동상
Statue of Virgin Mary

캠퍼스 중심에 자리 잡은 마리아상은

가톨릭 정신을 기반으로 설립된 대학임을 대표적으로 보여주는 상징이다.

성모 마리아의 사랑과 봉사의 삶은 우리 대학의 교훈과 맞닿아 있기에 구성원 모두가 성모상을 보며

그의 삶을 본받고자 설치되었다.

효성여자대학이 현재의 캠퍼스로 이전했던 1984년에 받침이,

1988년 총동창회의 기부로 성모상까지 세워졌다.

성모상은 세상의 모든 기도를 받아 하느님께 전해주시는 모습으로 양팔을 벌리고 있으며,

발은 지구를 감싸면서 동시에 원죄를 상징하는 뱀을 밟고 있다.

교내외 가톨릭 신자들이 이곳에서 기도를 바치고 있어 마치 작은 성모 동산을 연상하게 하는 명소이다.

The statue of Mary, located in the center of the campus, 

is a representative symbol of the university founded on the Catholic spirit.
The Virgin Mary's life of love and service is in line with the motto of our university, 

so all members of the university looked at the statue and wanted to emulate her life.
In 1984, when Hyosung Women's University moved to its current campus, 

the pedestal was erected, and in 1988, the statue of Mary was erected with donations from the alumni association.
The statue of Mary spreads out her arms to receive all the prayers of the world and convey them to God, 

and her feet wrap around the earth while stepping on a snake symbolizing original sin.
Catholic believers on and off campus pray here, making it a famous place reminiscent of a small Virgin Mary's garden.

 

 

 

 

 

​이번 프로젝트의 핵심은 마리아 동상을 드라마 현장 촬영 없이도 완벽하게 구현하는 것입니다.

마리아 동상의 원형과 질감을 디지털로 완벽히 복제하고

드라마 세트에서 여러 각도와 조명 효과를 적용할 수 있는 3D 모델 제작이 필요합니다.

디지털 합성을 통해 현장 촬영을 대체하며 제작 비용과 시간을 절감할 수 있겠죠?

 

​The core of this project is to perfectly recreate the statue of Maria without having to film on location.
We need to perfectly replicate the original and texture of the statue of Maria digitally,
and create a 3D model that can be applied to various angles and lighting effects on the drama set.
Can we reduce production costs and time by replacing on-site filming through digital compositing?

 

 

작업과정 : Work process

1차로 스캔을 진행해서 전체 동상을 360도로 스캔해 형상 데이터를 수집합니다.

2차로는 디테일을 위해 스캔 작업을 진행합니다.

( 얼굴, 손, 옷의 주름 등 중요한 디테일을 추가로 촬영합니다.)

마지막으로 텍스처 데이터 수집을 위해 텍스처 데이터를 별도로 촬영합니다.

 

First, we scan the entire statue 360 ​​degrees to collect shape data.
Second, we scan for details.
(We additionally take pictures of important details such as the face, hands, and wrinkles on clothes.)
Finally, we take pictures of texture data separately to collect texture data.

✔ Post-processing: Integrate and optimize data so that it is ready for immediate use by the drama production team.
